About our Team

Durango Vineyard is an awesome community of people from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and walks of life. We are passionate about seeing people experience new life in Jesus, growing in authentic relationship with others, and reaching out to love our city.

We began as a church about 3 years ago, when lead pastor DJ Jergensen and his family moved to Durango to start the church. Since then, we’ve grown to a community of 150 people who absolutely love gathering together on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm at Escalante Middle School and throughout the week in homes, coffee shops, up on the mountain, at the park, on the river, and out on the trails. Come join us some Wednesday night! We would love the chance to meet you!

DJ Jergensen, Lead Pastor
Vanessa Jergensen, Children's Ministry Leader

DJ Jergensen is the lead pastor and founder of Durango Vineyard Church. He and his wife Vanessa and their two girls, Ingrid and Lucy, moved to Durango in the summer of 2013 to start the church. It has been a wild ride full of joy, surprises, and challenges, but DJ and his family have fallen in love with Durango and couldn’t imagine themselves anywhere else. They love the outdoors, the seasons, the people, and the sunshine. They are putting their hearts and souls into loving their kids, and loving the people in Durango, in hopes that they would see Jesus transform people’s lives.

Prior to coming to Durango, DJ was a youth pastor for 9 years at Canyon View Vineyard Church in Grand Junction. And before that, he attended Taylor University, where he surrendered his life to Jesus and met his beautiful wife, Vanessa.

Vanessa wears many hats ~ mom, wife, photography business owner, mentor, administrative guru, hostess, and friend. She’s so grateful to serve the church alongside her husband, DJ, and loves the chance to see people experience Jesus for the first time.

If you’re looking for DJ...

You’ll most likely find him at his favorite local coffee shop 81301, fly fishing on the Animas, rafting, taking his girls for a hike, or biking into town for a date with his wife.

As for Vanessa...

You’ll most likely find her baking something sweet in their farmhouse kitchen, trail running, doing an art project with her girls, biking out to Falls Creek, editing photos for her business, hiking with a friend, or going out to coffee with DJ.

To contact them, email DJ at dj@durangovineyard.com or Vanessa at vanessa@durangovineyard.com and they will be in touch with you shortly!

Wayne Buxton, Pastoral Intern
Mikka Buxton

Wayne Buxton is a pastoral intern at the Durango Vineyard. In the summer of 2014, he and his family made the move to Durango, CO. Feeling the leading of God to move and a burden for the people of Durango, Wayne, his wife Mikka, and their three girls (Mikaela, Madison, and Morgan) said goodbye to family and friends, loaded up the U-Haul, and made the 20 hour trip from Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Now two years later they have fallen in love with Durango. The people, the weather (no humidity, no mosquitoes), and all the fun adventures have been an amazing experience for them. Wayne and Mikka have not only seen themselves grow in their relationship with Jesus, but their kids have as well.

It’s been humbling for them to see Jesus use them for His purposes, and how the people around them get to experience, in some way, the love of God.

Wayne's Favorite things to do...

He loves hanging out at 81301 Coffee shop, taking his girls to the library or the Rec Center, power lifting, crossfit, and hanging out with his wife at their favorite restaurant : Tacos Nayarit.

Mikka loves...

She loves to spend time cooking in the kitchen, hanging out with her family, exploring Durango, hiking, and serving others.

To contact Wayne or Mikka, email them at wayne@durangovineyard.com and Wayne will be in touch with you shortly!

Winston Sollay, Worship Leader

Winston Sollay is the worship leader at the Durango Vineyard. After serving as Youth Pastor and Worship leader at two different Vineyard churches in Louisiana, God was leading Winston somewhere new.  In September of 2015 Winston moved from Cajun Country to Durango following what God placed on his heart to do. Though leaving behind Momma’s home cookin’ is difficult, the clarity of God’s calling inspires Winston to use music to create a safe space for all people to meet with God.

Winston has since fallen in love with Durango...

and the people in it. He enjoys spending his time soaking up the beauty that is Durango, spending quality time with friends, playing music every chance he gets and eating at all the good restaraunts in Durango - but nothing comes close to Mama’s home cookin’!

To contact Winston, email him at Winston@durangovineyard.com and he will be in touch with you shortly!
