The Salvation Army's Kettle Season is underway! From November 29th until December 24th, volunteers are needed to ring bells at Walmart (both doors) and South and North City Market.
The Durango Vineyard Church is proud to support our community partners by volunteering to ring bells. Remember, every dollar raised stays local and directly benefits La Plata County residents.
Shifts are available from 10am to 6pm, in two-hour increments. Click here to sign up (choose ringing as an individual).
This winter, when the temperature reaches 15 degrees or below, an Emergency Warming Center will be operating at the Community Compassion Outreach Center, 21738 US Highway 160, Durango CO. The center will be open to all persons who are experiencing cold and need a warm place to stay from 7pm to 7am the next morning. When it is 15 degrees and below, people living in homes with little heat, sheltering in cars and tents, will have a safe and warm space rather than suffering in the cold and risking serious injury or death.
Community Compassion Outreach, Neighbors in Need Alliance, Manna Soup Kitchen and the Red Cross are working together to make this happen. But without volunteers, this critical need cannot be met.
We need people who are willing to spend time staying at the center. Shifts of 4 to 12 hours will be available. Orientation and training will be provided.
You can make a critical difference to fellow Durangoans this winter. You can help keep these people safe and cared for.

We make make a difference in our local unhoused population. Since starting our outreach we have not lost a single person to cold exposure.
We seek out the unhoused with a basic need for warmth. We supply them with a propane heater and weekly, from November through May, we follow-up with propane refills and some some much needed love and support.
